So, you’re interested in becoming a Healthy & Safety Apprentice?

You may not have the experience yet, but you want to earn-as-you-learn, whilst gaining a qualification in a professional working environment, so why not give your career a kick start and join our BAM Apprenticeship Programme?

With this Apprenticeship you can complete a 1 year, Level 3 qualification in Business Administration, whilst working with our Facilities Management (FM), Health & Safety team, at our Head office in Hemel Hempstead.

Our Apprenticeship will be a full-time role from Monday to Friday.

So what is this Apprentice role all about? We asked the team to tell us...

“This exciting new opportunity sits in the Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSEQ) team. In simple terms, as an HSEQ team, we make sure that our colleagues, who maintain our buildings, are kept safe and follow set protocols. We are responsible for ensuring the smooth and successful HSEQ operation of contracts and in addition, maintaining our systems with up to date HSEQ legislation.

Here is a flavour of the type of activities we would love you to be involved in:

•Supporting administration, controlling filing of documents

•Attending Health & Safety audits with team

•Planning and logging audits

•Completing and placing important Health & Safety documentation onto our online system

•Working on specified and agreed projects”

What we're looking for…

Early careers talent is really important to us here at BAM. We're looking for people with passion and initiative. You will love working in a team, learn quickly and prioritise your workload. We need you to provide the best service possible for our Health & Safety team, so we are looking for someone who can talk to people at all levels and pay close attention to detail. You'll be a superstar at organisation, an eager team player and have a good understanding of software such as; Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint packages.


Due to the nature of this apprenticeship, it would suit school/college leavers from 18 years of age. You are only eligible to apply if:

•You have lived in the UK/EEA for a minimum of three years consecutively

•You have at least a Level 1 qualification in Maths and English (GCSE C, GCSE Level 4 or above, or equivalent)

•You do not already hold a Level 3 qualification in the same subject

What you'll get

The nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification takes a year to complete and you will receive a competitive salary, which is nearly double the apprentice national minimum wage! You will gain valuable training in the workplace while being supported every step of the way, guided by a personal development plan.

Start date

We are looking for someone to start in either October/November

Interview date
