You may not have the experience yet, but you want to earn-as-you-learn, whilst gaining a qualification in a professional working environment, so why not give your career a kick start and join our Apprenticeship Programme?

With this apprenticeship you can complete a Level 3 qualification in Plumbing and Heating, whilst working with our BAM Facilities Management team (FM), at Bedminster Down School, in Bristol!

The Apprenticeship takes 24 months to complete and will be a full-time role from Monday to Friday.

So, what is the FM team all about? We asked the team to tell us...

“This exciting new opportunity sits in our Bedminster Down School, BAM FM team. Our team undertake the maintenance and project work for the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and building management system. There will also be an opportunity to attend other sites to make sure that you are acquiring all the necessary skills to become qualified”

Here is a flavour of the type of activities the team would love you to be involved in:

“As part of the Facilities Management Team, this new role will primarily focus on plumbing, heating and gas. Following successful training you will be responsible for diagnosing and fixing faults, understanding heating control wiring and circuit diagrams and reading building and engineering drawings”

What we're looking for…

Early careers talent is really important to us here at BAM. We're looking for people with passion and initiative. You'll be really interested in Plumbing and Heating and enjoy working in a team. We need you to provide the best service possible for our customers, so we are looking for someone who can talk to people at all levels and pay close attention to detail.


Due to the nature of this apprenticeship, it would suit school/college leavers from 18 years of age. You are only eligible to apply if:

  • You have lived in the UK/EEA for a minimum of three years consecutively
  • You have at least a Level 2 qualification in Maths and English (GCSE or equivalent, grade C/grade 4 or above)
  • You do not already hold a qualification in the same subject and level
  • You have already achieved a Level 2 in Plumbing and Heating

What you'll get

This nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification takes 24 months to complete and you will receive a competitive salary, which is nearly double the apprentice national minimum wage! You will gain valuable Plumbing and Heating training in the workplace whilst being supported every step of the way, guided by a personal development plan.
